As Cliffs Roar, Caves Whisper (2024)

digital video, single channel, 15 min. Ink pen on  paper, 101cm x 180cm.

In 1783 two riding officers survey a horizon from a clifftop in southern England. On the beach below, in 2043, a geologist investigates the caves and surrounding geological forms for useful minerals.

As Cliffs Roar, Caves Whisper weaves geological, technological, animal and human gazes to traverse between two timelines, creating a composite reflective of the geologically rich landscape in which both narratives take place. Accompanying the film are two sets of drawings that expand on upon the narrative strucutre of the film.
